Research

Research

Asavari has encouraged research in various aspects of dance and other art forms as it believes that such studies help in deepening our own knowledge, in widening horizons of thinking, developing discerning and analytical skills, raising awareness on issues, practices, topics that have been lying buried and honingproblem-solving skills among others. This saw Asavari under Guru Shovana embark on several journeys that have borne fruit and are visible in several acclaimed publications. Some of the issues taken up for research were understanding the dance legacy of Bihar since ancient times, the intricate inter-relationship between Kathak and Yoga and the discovery of Kathak Villages. The last has been a breath-taking research work that is unparalleled and is the first ever of its kind as it has broken myths, brought new facts to life – all based on study of original documents

Such critical faculties of being able to judiciously discern and reason and take the pains of going into unchartered terrains basing one’s findings on original research, are being encouraged at the Asavari Centre.
