Acharyas at the Asavari Centre

Komal Biswal (Delhi): disciple of Guru Shovana Narayan,has emerged from the portals of Asavari as a dedicated dancer who has performed extensively. Her various performances include performances in India-China Cultural Exchange 2011,Beijing,China, Commonwealth Games 2010, New Delhi, at Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam,Tirupati,2010, Lalit Arpan Annual Festival, Debadhara Festival, Delhi International Art Festival, as also festivals held at Kurukshetra, Pinjor, Vrindavan, Aligarh to name a few. Besides being a regular artiste of Asavari repertory, she is also training students at the Asavari Centre of dance.


Pallavi Lohani (Delhi): After moving residence to Delhi from Lucknow, Pallavi has been receiving rigorous training in Kathak from Guru Shovana for the last 8/9 years at Asavari. A PhD in Kathak, yet in her own words, Pallavi says that “she is imbibing the depth of emotion and dance” from her Guru, Shovana Narayan. She is a naturally gifted artiste with clarity in  ‘padhant’, rhythmic brilliance and good abhinaya. Possessing a good sense of timing and command over the stage, her performances have mesmerized audiences. She is also a natural teacher and besides being a member of the Asavari Repertory, she is also imparting training to the higher-level students of Asavari.

Suparna Singh (Delhi): A dedicated dancer, who has been learning from Guru Shovana Narayan at the Asavari Centre for the last 9 years or so, is known for her precision, graceful ang, and her incredible dedication to Kathak. Besides being a member of the Asavari Repertory, she is also handling additional responsibility of taking classes (physically and for online students) whenever required.


Ustad Imran Khan (Hindustani Classical Vocal):   amily tradition of music and the legacy of his great grandfather Ustad Mamman Khan Saheb, Aftaab-e-Mausiqi Ustad Chand Khan Saheb, Ustad Hilal Ahmed Khan & several other relatives who were illustrious artists of Dilli gharana. Endowed with a rich and mellifluous voice, he is a versatile Hindustani classical vocalist who is also proficient in Sufi and Ghazal gayaki. He is the disciple & son of Taan Samraat Late Ustad Naseer Ahmed Khan Saheb, the renowned maestro of Dilli Gharana.He has provided vocal accompaniment to a number of leading Kathak dancers. His musical compositions have also been very well received. He has also travelled for performances in various countries outside India.

Pt. Mahaveer Gangani (Pakhawaj):  Hailing from a family of artistes from Rajasthan, Mahaveer is an accomplished pakhawaj player. He has performed widely and has given pakhawaj accompaniment to several leading Kathak dancers of the country in various National and International Festivals within India and all over the globe.
